Duncanville Results and A Special Thank You

Bronco Band Parents,

I want to thank all of you who were able to turn out for the first ever Send Off for the Bronco Marching Band on Saturday afternoon.  I know this definitely provided the students with a spark sending them off to their biggest competition to date.  Your cheers as the buses rolled by and your cheers from the stands on Saturday afternoon and Saturday night went a long way to motivate the band.

Boyd Band Students Earn Spots In LSYO

Congratulations to the students below who auditioned and earned placement in the 2011-2012 Lone Star Youth Wind Orchestra.

Gretchen Eggers — Oboe
Rajat Suresh — Alto Saxophone
Conor Wagner — Trumpet
Will Griffith — Trombone
Hunter Heinrichs — Tuba

More on the Lone Star Youth Orchestra
“Since its inception, the Lone Star Wind Orchestra has been focused on two key priorities — providing the North Texas community with exceptional performances of wind band masterpieces and developing the next generation of wind band leaders. The Board of Trustees is excited with the launch of the LSWO Youth Winds – the next major step in expanding our focus on developing the musicianship and leadership of area band students. This new ensemble joins our successful Lone Star Kids program, which encourages middle school students to stay involved in school band programs, and our Music Changing Lives scholarship program, which encourages outstanding high school students to continue their musical development while pursuing a college education. The LSWO Youth Winds will allow gifted and talented area high school students to take their performance skills to the next level by challenging them to play professional-level concert repertoire under the direction of one of the region’s greatest music educators — Dr. Bradley Kent. We believe the LSWO Youth Winds will accelerate the growth and development of the area’s most promising young musicians by offering them the opportunity to interact with the outstanding musicians of the Lone Star Wind Orchestra.”
